Astrology + The Mother Tongue | A 4-hour CPD for therapists and coaches
Some clients arrive already speaking astrology. They talk about their Saturn return, their Scorpio rising, the year everything fell apart. Most training teaches us to set that language to one side and use something approved, accredited or well-recognised on a measurable scale.
Research from education, science communication and culturally adapted therapy though, suggests we may be missing something. People understand and remember more when new meaning arrives in a language they already hold. And they pull away when the language doesn’t match theirs.
This session teaches you to recognise astrology as one of those mother tongues, and to work in it ethically when a client brings it.
What we cover
The mother tongue research: cognitive load, existing schemas and the affective filter, and what they mean for the therapy room
Zodiac language as a shared vocabulary: the twelve signs as archetypes your client may already use to describe themselves
The lifetime initiations: the first Saturn return (around 29), the Uranus opposition (early 40’s), the Chiron return (around 50) and the second Saturn return (around 59), as chapters clients often name when they arrive in crisis
How to follow a client’s symbolic language without interpreting or predicting for them
Ethical boundaries, including agency, the Barnum effect, risk and supervision
You’ll leave able to
Recognise when a client is speaking in a symbolic mother tongue
Ask questions that keep them in it
Use the lifetime initiations to understand the story a client is telling about their timing
Hold clear limits around prediction, competence and risk
Who it’s for
Qualified therapists, counsellors and coaches. No astrology knowledge is needed.
Scope
This training treats astrology as a symbolic and narrative language. It makes no claims about planetary causation and does not train you to give readings.
