What do the Lines mean in Astrocartography?

lines mean astrocartography

You’ve pulled your astrocartography chart, you get it up, and think “What on EARTH are all these lines!?” So… what do the lines mean in astrocartography?

Let’s break it down a little…

Astrocartography shows us where the shadows of the planet were sitting when we were born. So in theory, it shows us where that energy from within our birthchart shines the brightest when we consider planet earth.

There’s a few ways we can use that.

We can ofcourse travel to those places. But sometimes that’s not always possible.

We could perhaps consider our relationship to people from those places, as a way of understanding our psychological makeup.

OR we could bring some of that energy to us. For example, my Neptune line runs through Mount Shasta in California, and one of my alchemy singing bowls is produced from Mount Shasta Serpentine. I have unlocked so many spiritual insights with this bowl, too.

Anyway.

If we know what those lines are, what do those individual lines mean in astrocartography?

Sun line - your ‘Eat Pray Love’ line - where you go to come back home to yourself, or how you feel more at home in yourself.

Moon line - your nurturing and nourishing line. A line of emotional intensity or emotional purging, however you look at it. Intuitive line.

North node line - a place that nudges you closer to your destiny. A place that may challenge you, but for your greatest good.

Mercury line - a place for networking, meet ups, business partnerships, expanding your network and your voice/influence.

Venus line - a place where beauty, artistry and culture comes alive for you.

Mars line - a place of action… don’t plan on resting here!

Jupiter line - a place to expand your horizons, go into new territories and explore!

Saturn line - a place for discipline and lessons. It’s not everyone’s favourite line, unless you love a plan and patience, but it is incredibly important to use this line for soul growth.

Uranus line - a place of unpredictability, which will often favour big and bold moves, and those who work in tech for relocation, for example.

Neptune line - a place of spiritual growth and connection.

Pluto line - a place of transformation, rebirth, and brushes with the highs and lows of life. Potent and powerful.

Chiron line - a place for shadow work, to accept help, and to explore your own vulnerabilities. Powerful post-Chiron returns (50+).

This is, of course, just an overview.

What actually brings your personal chart alive is your astrology chart.

For example. My Venus sits in the 1st house, in Virgo. So although my Venus line will bring me love, music to my ears, art to my ears, soul food… it will also bring it in the most simple forms, the everyday beauties, and helping me to fall back in love with myself, who I am. So there’s some colour to add to this line when we consider where the chart sits. Also, if there’s any transits going on in that first house, it may colour the line for a certain amount of time for you… for example, if Saturn is transiting the first house, it might add a real slowness to this line. And challenges with authority as well.

So there’s a lot of depth, and a lot of richness.

But start with the above, and see what you discover about your lines first and foremost.
