The Journey of a Soul | Funeral Poem | Celebration of Life Poem

The Journey of a Soul

The body is a shell, a home for your soul,

A piece of the stars lent graciously to earth.

A temporary home to enjoy the wonders held here,

Like a clam shell guarding a rare, precious pearl.

The first breath in carries the soul to its new home,

Brings life to a single vessel or shell,

And when it’s time for the soul to leave this plane,

The breath out carries the soul home with stories to tell.

When others are done with their journey here too,

Their souls return leaving behind imprints and scars,

But above? The family, re-united once more,

Each light a soul shining, again, as a star…

I wrote this poem after a family member passed away. I hope you find comfort in the words, and please use it within any ceremonies you feel fitting. <3
